makes sense, things you create with the power of life eventually following a path that you didn't originally intend for them, seems like it would happen irl if you had these powers, machines making the climate situation worse, global warming in a nutshell, negation magic(described in-game as the power of death) making clouds of death? a bit of a stretch but it seems pretty reasonable, one thing I dont understand though is why glamors give you rot, I guess it makes you more charismatic and likeable on the outside and your insides gain the opposite affect.I have completed the game multiple times, (4 to be exact) and I have only gotten 2 endings that could be really described as good with each of my playthroughs taking 7-8 hours, although that may have just been me getting distracted by other things irl. all in all I really loved this game and recommend it to most people who like games in which your choices matter, and/or fantasy games, the magical parts of the game are why I like this game more than choice of robots or choice of alexadria, I did 1 full playthrough of robots and I got bored with alexandria within the first bit of dialogue, having barely reached land, I like this better because the others feel too much like real life, what with the actual history part of alexandria, and the modern day part of robots. it has better and more in-depth lore and generally a better feel than choice of robots, but I enjoyed this game so much more that its actually made me want to write a review, something that I can never remember doing for any other game.the replay value is pretty good too, what with all the different possibilities, its honestly a lot like a better version of a choose the plot book, although after the fourth replay I found myself both feeling kinda bored but a lot like I really want to play more.overall, 9/10 and I hope to see more games just like this on steam in the future.. From the creator of Choice of Robots' aaaand I'm sold!!As soon as I saw who this was made by I immediately bought it because I knew I was in for a well thought through story, characters who are endearing and had depth and also a part of the story that would get a strong emotional reaction from me. I played 'Choice of Robots' first from Kevin Gold and that got the emotional reaction of making me actually cry since I managed to get the Empathy ending, with my character about the die and the robot saying 'If you die then I will too', I was so emotionally invested in this robot that I actually cried at the idea of it, I wanted them to live on and find happiness, I never normally cry at games but that got me. This time it was being proposed to by Cos, my hands actually flew up to cover my mouth and I felt such a big smile cross my face as I read his proposal and also, the awkward denial of Vance's feelings in the pub after taking him on as an apprentice. I actually had to 'nope' out of the game but then felt bad for not answering so I went right back in to choose 'I'm sorry'. If there's one thing Kevin is a master at, it's writing characters and their interpersonal realtionships! More often than not, when I was reading, it was more like a mini movie was playing in my imagination and the attention to detail just helped with that. Little touches like having the characters name being only 3 letters long lest you seem pretentious, how painful it was to have your skeleton being affected to have wings suddenly be sprouting out and using one type of magic too much that it affects your body physically! I used Vivomancy for about 80% of the game and my characters grew feathers from his head and was described as having an unusually plain face, not sure how I got that detail to be honest though, not sure if Vivo had anything to do with it XD Also, Thecla and Tal are the best couple! I actually cheered these two on irl and in game hahaAlso, being able to make your own little creatures and keep them as pets or set them free in the wild with a mate made me insanely happy (and the pet store made me crazily sad, me and my character both wanted to take everything home, I know want a songsnake plushie XD). The entire premise and universe that this story creates is phenomenal, the first chapter filled me with such wonder, I found Tal to be such a good companion/friend and her design was so intersting. The sunken academy sounded wonderful and really does set up a comparison for when you go back above ground and the dangers that are actually up there compared to the dangers below. I cant recommend this game enough! If you plan to start playing 'Choice of' games then start with this or with 'Choice of Robots', you will fall in love!. Awesome game. My one complaint about this game is that Glamour leads to Rot. Playing entirely without Glamour, I was still subjected to the effects of the Rot, which seems to form a plot point of varying importance depending on the path you take and the choices you make.After all is said and done with this game, I am satisfied that it was a purchase worth the cost.. This game is very imagintative and adventurous, it really gives you the choice to be good and kind, or evil and powerful, as well as how you do it. I haven't finished the game, but i greatly recommend getting it. It is just 5 dollars, you are not going to find many games as good as this for that price.. Really fun fantasy reading game.
